ACLU of Michigan Communications Director
This event features the ACLU documentary,
"Freedom to Dream: The Rights of Immigrants." This short
film puts a spotlight on
ordinances that seek to curb illegal immigration in towns across
America, and end up fostering a climate of xenophobic fear. These
initiatives have stoked the flames of anti-immigrant sentiment.

Lydia recently returned from a trip to Palestine sponsored by the
Michigan Peace Team.
Detroit Summer is a local multi-racial and inter-generational
collective working to transform Detroit by confronting its
problems with creativity and critical thinking,
Together they will discuss global and local oppressions
and what youth are doing to speak out against them.

FROM HIROSHIMA TO HOPE
Featuring the film "Conviction"
and a discussion with Michigan Peace Team’s Liz Walters, IHM
"Conviction" is the story of three Catholic nuns who took the
proliferation of nuclear arms in this country personally and paid
a high price for their disarmament action.

The evening will conclude with a silent procession through
downtown Royal Oak in commemoration of Hiroshima/Nagasaki and as a
sign of commitment to working for a world free of nuclear weapons.
Admission is free.
